SLAVENKA PETRAK

Slavenka Petrak was born on 31th March 1970 in Karlovac, Croatia. She finished her undergraduate study in 1995 at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Textile Technology. In 1999, at the same Faculty, she defended her postgraduate master thesis entitled: "A Method of Automatic Computer-Based Constructon of Cut Parts". At the same faculty, she received her PhD in 2007. A doctoral thesis entitled: "The method of 3D garment construction and cutting pattern transformation models" made under the mentorship of Prof. Dubravko Rogale, Ph.D. In 1995 she was employed at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Textile Technology in the Department of Clothing Technology. (Working field-textile technology, branch of clothing technology). From 1995. to 2004. Junior Assistant; 2004. Assistant; 2007. Senior Assistant; 2009. Assistant Professor; 2014. Associate Professor.

She is a member of the Croatian Association of Textile Engineers since 1997, she was a member of the Scientific Programme Committee of the 3rd International Scientific-Professional Symposium Textile Science and Economy, a member of the Organizing Committee of the 4th and 5th International Scientific-Professional Symposium Textile Science and Economy and a Vice-president of the 12th World Textile Conference - AUTEX 2012. She was a member of the E-learning Committee of the University of Zagreb in the period of 2010-2014. At the Faculty of Textile Technology, she has been Vice-Dean for Education and student affairs in the period of 2009-2012. In this period, on the Faculty she was also a member of the Council of Doctoral Studies. On the Faculty she is also a member of the Centre for Development and Transfer of Textile and Clothing Technologies and Fashion Design and the member of the Library Board.

Her scientific research work is linked to the research and development of automatic 2D/3D garment construction methods, computer-based garment design, construction and 3D simulation, anthropometric body measurement by applying 3D body scanner, design and engineering of functional clothing, investigation and development of 3D computer-based parametric models of garment prototypes, custom made clothing and footwear, computer-based footwear design.

In the framework of the participation on the projects, she was associate in the scientific research project "Intelligent Clothing and Environment" - project leader Prof. Dubravko Rogale, Ph.D. from 2006 to 2012.She was also associate in the project "Clothing with Adaptive Thermal Insulation Properties" funded by the Croatian Institute of Technology, project leader Prof. Dubravko Rogale, Ph.D. in the period of 2009-2013. She was researcher in the Croatian-Hungarian bilateral project: "3D modelling of human body based on anthropometric measurement"– leaders Prof. Darko Ujević, Ph.D. (CRO) and i Prof. Marianna Halász (HU) and researcher in the Croatian-Austrian bilateral project: "Anthropometry under special consideration of life and early factors with an applied approach for the garment industry"– leaders: Prof. Darko Ujević, Ph.D. (CRO) and Prof. Horst Seidler, Ph.D. (A). She is the Head of three laboratories at the Faculty of Textile Technology, at the Department of Clothing Technology; Laboratory for 3D body scanning, Laboratory for computer-based garment construction and the Laboratory for CAD/CAM systems of clothing engineering. Within those laboratories she independently works on a total of 14 computer programs CAD/CAM of Lectra Systemes, CAD systems of Optitex and Human Solutions and on several computer programs linked to the field of computer graphics and 3D modelling. So far, as a co-author, she published 1 author's book, 1 chapter in a book, 7 scientific papers published in journals cited in secondary publications, 4 papers in other journals, 2 published invited lecturers, 25 peer-reviewed scientific papers published in books of proceedings of international scientific conferences, four peer-reviewed papers published in books of proceedings of domestic scientific and professional conferences, 1 abstract in the book of proceedings of an international conference.

Within the teaching activities, she teaches on total of 8 courses at the university undergraduate and graduate studies at the Faculty, on doctoral program and in the professional study at the Study Unit in Varaždin. As an external associate she teaches in the Textile Study at the Polytechnic of Karlovac. Group of courses are from the field of computer-aided design, computer garment construction and 3D simulations of clothing and footwear.
