Darko Grundler was born in Zagreb on 13. December 1949. He graduated at University of Zagreb, Electrical Engineering faculty in year 1972., get his master of science degree on the same university in year 1976. He get his Philosophiae Doctor, Technical Sciences degree at University of Zagreb, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing in year 1997.
His working experience includes employment as professor (mathematics, electrical engineering) at Srednjoškolski centar Kutina, Kutina, Croatia (1974 – 1976), technical manager responsible for R&D and production at company SELK, Kutina (electronics, microelectronics, computer hardware and software, 1976 – 1990) and lecturer, assistant professor, associate professor, full professor at University of Zagreb, Faculty of textile technology (1990 –present). He teaches computing science, intelligent algorithms and evolutionary algorithms.
As technical manager in company SELK he led professionally and organisationally group of engineers and professionals during development and production of microelectronic assemblies and computer hardware. He founded, organized and managed computer laboratory on Faculty of textile technology. More than once he managed writing professional books and textbooks coordinating co-authors. He was and is a member of many international and domestic conferences organizing comities. He have theoretical and practical skills for areas of: microelectronic assemblies, various computer technologies (especially software development), using many software tools from various areas and theoretical and practical application of evolutionary algorithms and fuzzy logic. He is competent in area of his scientific and professional fields which includes areas of intelligent algorithms, evolutionary algorithms and fuzzy logic.
He was a researcher at national scientific research project "Application of fuzzy logic in the process of dyeing and colour metrics" (0117004) from 2003 to 2007. He is a researcher at national scientific project "Colours and Dyes in Processes of Ecologically Acceptable Sustainable Development" (117-1171419-1401) from 2007 to 2013. He is head of project at national scientific project "Evolutionary Algorithms in Environmental Electromagnetic Loading Optimization" (117-0000000-3254) from 2008 to 2013.
During his professional experience he was leader of many groups. It includes professional groups (R&D and production manager, collaboration with other co-authors writing books) and recreation groups (mountaineering guide). He easily communicates with other people and likes to cooperate and exchange knowledge and experiences with others. He is interested in new and various fields, especially interdisciplinary communication.
He has skills for writing professional books for various reader levels and is author of more than ten textbooks including writing books for foreign publishers. His computer science textbook is awarded as best of the year.
He fluently speaks, writes and understands English language.
He is active member of various recreation groups which include mountaineers, aerobic group and other.
