TOMISLAV ROLICH

project leader

Tomislav Rolich was born on 22nd April 1971 in Zagreb. He finished elementary school "Rudi Čajavec" in 1985 in Zagreb and in the same year enrolled technical high school "Ruđer Bošković" which he finished in 1989. He enrolled University of Zagreb, Faculty of Electrical Engineering in 1989 and went to serve in the army, and in 1990 he begins the study. He graduated at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing in 1995 (course of the industrial electronics), with the theme "Biquart sections with ramp amplifiers", under the mentorship of Prof. Neven Mijat, PhD. In January 1995, during studies, he was employed in a technical high school "Ruđer Bošković" as an associate and later as a teacher. In October 1998 he was employed at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Textile Technology as a junior assistant at the Department of Clothing Technology, where he held exercises in the courses Informatics, Computing and Applied Computing, and enrolled post graduate studies at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing. In November 2001 he received Master's degree at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, with the theme "Evaluation of Evolutionary Algorithms Application in Achieving Optimal Control" in the scientific field of technical sciences, scientific area of computing, scientific branch of artificial intelligence under the mentorship of Prof. Darko Grundler, PhD. In October 2002 he enrolled in the PhD studies. In April 2005 he received his PhD at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, with the theme "Searching Aesthetic Evaluation Space of Matching Fabric Weaves and Colours" in the scientific field of technical sciences, scientific area of computing, scientific branch of artificial intelligence under the mentorship of Prof. Darko Grundler, PhD. He works as a researcher in the scientific field of technical sciences, scientific area of computing, scientific branch of artificial intelligence. Immediate area of scientific interest are optimization methods and algorithms (evolutionary strategies and genetic algorithms), system modelling using artificial neural networks and the use of fuzzy logic for system control. He has published 51 papers and presented 25 papers at international conferences. He is co-author of one university handbook, and three university textbooks. He speaks, reads and writes English and passively speaks and reads German language.
